PDP Stakeholders in Etiki to Work Against Fayose

As the week dress near for the Governorship
Election in Ekiti State, the ambition of the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Mr. Ayodele
Fayose has received a set back as stakeholders in
the Ekiti chapter of the party have vowed to work
against him.
The PDP leaders said Fayose had been acting as
if he could win the election alone, adding that his
attitude was behind the failure of all the efforts
put in place by the national leaders to reconcile
all the aggrieved members.
The communique issued was signed by 17
stakeholders including, Chief Gabriel Ojo Falegan,
Dr. Bode Olowoporoku, Otunba Reuben Famuyibo,
Sir Kayode Otitoju, Rt. Hon. Kola Adefemi, Hon.
Gbenga Omotola and Adegoke Moshood Lawal
(Bamayi).
Others are Hon. Ayo Awe, Hon. Kunle Babalola,
Hon. Lekan Adekanmbi, Ayo Olatubosun, Hon. B.
Ayo Ajibade, Pastor Adewumi Kumuyi, Hon.
Justice Edward Ojuolape (RTD), Chief Dapo
Alibaloye, Dr. Chief Akinyemi, Lion Ropo
Adesanya, Dele Afolabi and Senator Gbenga
Aluko.
The stakeholders, who described Fayose as a
very bad electoral product, said the national
leaders committed a blunder by imposing him on
them.
It would be recalled that the Vice President,
Nmandi Sambo slept in Ekiti State for a night
shortly after the mega rally of the party which
was attended by President Goodluck Jonathan to
reconcile all the aggrieved stakeholders but failed
to receive positive responses from the leaders.
The communique reads, “Following the flagrant
and fraudulent manipulation of the recent Ekiti
State PDP ward congresses leading to the
Kangaroo State Governorship Primary, which
falsely produced Mr Ayo Fayose as the
Governorship candidate of the PDP for the June
21st, 2014 election, we the undersigned Leaders,
Elders and Stakeholders of PDP in Ekiti State wish
to state as follows:
“That series of events sequel to the contentious
Governorship primary have revealed that the
presumed PDP candidate is a very bad electoral
product and therefore, hard to sell.
“That PDP Elders/Leaders and other Stakeholders
have watched with amazement the unrelenting
brazen display of sheer arrogance, self-assurance,
unrestrained insult and bullying exhibited by the
candidate of the party – Mr. Ayo Fayose. This
conduct(s) did not stop even after the visit of the
President and the meeting of Stakeholders by the
Vice President.
“The utterances and conduct of the candidate
indicate malicious reprisals and revenge against
perceived, past and present antagonists,
adversaries and non-supporters of his ambition,
the moment he becomes the Governor.
“That well-meaning party Leaders/Elders/
Stakeholders aver that several attempts and
efforts at meaningful and effective reconciliation
were contemptuously frustrated by the candidate
due to egoistic mindset that he can do without
the PDP Leaders and Elders.
“In view of the above and given our knowledge of
the candidate imposed on Ekiti State PDP by the
national leadership of our party and the
candidate’s questionable antecedents, we are of
the view and conviction that the candidate does
not possess the required temperament disposition,
the necessary attributes, the capacity and the
ability to deliver good governance to Ekiti State –
the fountain of knowledge and the land of honour.
“We state that, as politicians and stakeholders of
the party in the Ekiti project, we owe our teeming
supporters the responsibility of directing them to
vote for someone that we believe can approximate
and dignify the personality of Ekiti State. This, we
believe, Mr. Ayo Fayose does not possess.
“It is obvious that the candidate is not ready,
willing and mentally capable of uniting and
leading the party to victory in the next
Governorship election that will take place on 21st
June, 2014.
“In consequence thereof, we in good conscience
are unable to work with him or for him in the
forthcoming June 21st Ekiti State Governorship
election.
“However, we unequivocally believe in the
transformation agenda of Mr. President.
“We commend and support Mr. President’s
genuine efforts at restoring peace and stability in
the country. In the face of current severe security
challenges, we pledge our unalloyed loyalty, full
support and commitment to the 2015 re-election
of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR”.
